In Alliance with SOMOS, the Fund for Solutions Journalism, executes the project “Exchange of knowledge that responds to social problems through the application of solutions journalism in media in the Latin American region.”
The Solutions Journalism Fund seeks to train journalists, particularly in rural and marginal urban communities about solutions journalism. This journalistic practice is a methodology that studies social problems in depth, through the responses that have been generated to address that problem, converting articles into repositories of knowledge, which include impact tests and also the limitations faced by the responses.
This journalism, capable of creating greater interaction with communities, is not commonly practiced in Costa Rica and the Central American region. This alliance aims to train, promote, and unite the regional journalism practice, including research and connecting social actors.
To date, this project has provided intensive training in alliance with the non-profit organization Solutions Journalism Network (USA) to 12 participants from the Central American region.
