Travelers Philanthropy Management
The SOMOS Foundation manages the Bodhi Surf + Yoga Travelers' Philanthropy Program. Breaking away from the traditional model of soliciting funds directly from patrons, Bodhi Surf + Yoga allocates $20 from each full-paying guest to the SOMOS Foundation which administers the monies for community-based projects. To date, SOMOS has received and managed over $30,000 of Travelers Philanthropy donations.

Stanford University, the CRUSA Foundation, Five Family Foundation, Costa Rica Forever Foundation, J. E. Fehsenfeld Family Foundation, as well as businesses like Tabacon Resorts, Bodhi Surf + Yoga, and Cayuga Hotels, to name a few.
Recent Projects:
SOMOS has managed and executed donations for the improvement of the Marino Ballena Naitonal Park. Some of the projects that have been supported are the rebuilding of the lifeguard tower, repairs and maintenance to vehicles and motorcycles as well as additional support for identifying local residents through the creation of a local registration ID card.

The funds were given to a group of artisans from Boruca to improve their workshop and cover their material needs.

View DetailsCollaborating with the Costa Rica-USA Foundation (CRUSA), SOMOS managed catalyst grants to four projects, including environmental education, citizen science, coral reef reforestation and inland aquatic ecosystems monitoring in the Paso de la Data Biological Corridor. In addition to providing financial support, SOMOS facilitated alliances with the private sector and coordinated volunteers and training to support the organizations' efforts.
