SOMOS has managed and executed donations for the improvement of the Marino Ballena Naitonal Park. Some of the projects that have been supported are the rebuilding of the lifeguard tower, repairs and maintenance to vehicles and motorcycles as well as additional support for identifying local residents through the creation of a local registration ID card.

In Alliance with SOMOS, the Fund for Solutions Journalism, executes the project “Exchange of knowledge that responds to social problems through the application of solutions journalism in media in the Latin American region.”

The artisans of Boruca are recognized for their masks and other items of great value to this ancestral people. SOMOS has channeled funds to improve the working conditions of artisans. The funds were given to a group of artisans from Boruca to improve their workshop and cover their material needs.

In 2024 the Cayuga Collection, award-winning, sustainable luxury hotels in Costa Rica, Panama & Nicaragua committed to protect and preserve the communities and ecosystems that surround them, reached out to the SOMOS Foundation to manage and administer a donation.

Collaborating with the Costa Rica-USA Foundation (CRUSA), SOMOS managed catalyst grants to four projects, including environmental education, citizen science, coral reef reforestation and inland aquatic ecosystems monitoring in the Paso de la Data Biological Corridor. In addition to providing financial support, SOMOS facilitated alliances with the private sector and coordinated volunteers and training to support the organizations' efforts.

The SOMOS Foundation manages the Bodhi Surf + Yoga Travelers' Philanthropy Program. Breaking away from the traditional model of soliciting funds directly from patrons, Bodhi Surf + Yoga allocates $20 from each full-paying guest to the SOMOS Foundation which administers the monies for community-based projects. To date, SOMOS has received and managed over $30,000 of Travelers Philanthropy donations.

The SELAL youth leadership camp co-developed by the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment and the SOMOS Foundation is an English Language and Leadership camp designed to empower youth with the necessary skills, knowledge, and opportunities to become future leaders.
